Conference
The most important result of each year is the annual conference. Our 36th
conference held in Helsinki was a great success, more attendees than normal
(153), large exhibition and both participants and exhibitors were very
pleased with the integrated arrangements. Ivan Szendiuch was our invited
guest from the IMAPS Czech and Slovak Chapter. A new service was Proceedings
on CD-ROM in addition to the paper format.
Members
In 1999 membership went down a bit, to 215 from the previous 250. We have
a database with more than 600 potential members. The address list management
is handled by our Treasurer. An email list is being set up, although not yet
utilised.
Board
The new board started with its first year of duty. The composition was
the same as the previous board:
- President Paul Collander, Nokia Research Center
- Vice president Søren Nørlyng, Micronsult
- Secretary and Webmaster Katarina Boustedt, Ericsson Mobile
Communications
- Treasurer Terho Kutilainen, Aspocomp EMS
- Hans Danielsson, Mikroelektronik Konsult
- Snorre Prytz, FFI
- Kenneth Dahlberg, Pacesetter
- Henrik Hvims, Delta
During the year, a few changes to company names and affiliations have
occurred. For the updated and full information, please refer to the
right margin.
Internet
Our web pages for both internal (board) and external communications
became operational in February 1998 and during 1999 we had ??? hits
world-wide. It includes a world-wide list of related conferences as an
attempt to minimise timing collisions and provide information to our
members.
The Board communicates very frequently over the Internet, making physical
meetings necessary only for conference planning and execution. Board
meetings are also held at IMAPS European events.
IMAPS collaboration
Paul Collander represented IMAPS Nordic in the European Liaison Committee
(ELC) and Søren Nørlyng in Technical Program Committee (TPC). Søren
operates also as European editor for the IMAPS journal Advancing
Microelectronics which is a member benefit for all members paying IMAPS
Nordic member fee.
The Ceramic Interconnect Initiative (CII) from the US is sponsored by the
Nordic Chapter.
ELC has nominated Terho as European contact person.
A number of IMAPS conferences world-wide have seen attendees from the
Nordic chapter.
