Conference
The most important result of each year is the annual conference. Our 35th
conference was held in Globen just south of Stockholm. For some reason
number of delegates, 125 out of which 60 were paying delegates, was lower
than normal. The program was good but perhaps the marketing had been poor.
Kenneth Dahlberg shall get a special thank you for hard work! Economically
the conference was a success. Discussions with exhibitors to better
integrate conference program and exhibition were started.
Members
In 1998 membership went a bit up again to the stable 250 from previous
low of 241. We have a database with more than 600 potential members. The
address list management is taken care of by our Treasurer.
Board
The board continued with its second year of duty. The composition was:
- President Paul Collander, Nokia Research Center
- Vice president Søren Nørlyng, Micronsult
- Secretary and Web master Katarina Boustedt, Ericsson Microwave Systems
- Treasurer Terho Kutilainen, Aspocomp EMS
- Hans Danielsson, Mikroelektronik Konsult
- Snorre Prytz, FFV
- Kenneth Dahlberg, Pacesetter
- Henrik Hvims, Delta
The Board was re-elected for the two years term 1999 and 2000.
Internet
Our own Web pages for both internal and external communications became
operational in February 1998. They enable us to communicate more easily
world-wide.
The Board is communicating very frequently over the Internet making
physical meetings necessary only for conference planning and execution.
Board meetings are also held at IMAPS European events.
IMAPS collaboration
Paul Collander represented us in the European Liaison Committee (ELC) and
Søren Nørlyng in Technical Program Committee (TPC). Sören has also
started to operate as European editor for the IMAPS journal Advancing
Microelectronics which will become a member benefit for all members paying
IMAPS Nordic member fee.
IMAPS (US) VP of International Development, Rao Tummala, participated in
our annual conference in Stockholm and met with the Board.
The Ceramic Interconnect Initiative (CII) from the US is sponsored by the
Nordic Chapter.
ELC has nominated Terho as European contact person.
A number of IMAPS conferences world-wide have seen attendees from the
Nordic chapter.
