Dear IMAPS Nordic Member,
This Member Letter is still sent out as a paper
copy since we do not want to miss a single
member and we do not have email addresses for everyone. Tell treasurer@imapsnordic.org
if you have got a new one. We also need mailing
addresses for the Journals, both the unofficial
European "Microelectronics International"
and the official North American "Advancing Microelectronics", so
please make sure that our treasurer always is up to
date with your affiliation and address.
Conference and Annual meeting
Thank you all involved for making the conference in
Helsingør the success it was! We had 119
delegates, 32 speakers and 28 exhibitors. Unfortunately we ran out of
space in the exhibition, so we had to refer some
late-comers to the next conference &
exhibition. The quality of the papers and the conference has been praised by
attendees and the atmosphere was good as always.
If you want to buy additional copies of the
Proceedings, please contact Søren (noerlyng@micronsult.dk).
The hotel made some mistakes with our room charges but
we hope everything has been solved by now.
We thank all the 30 persons who filled in the
questionnaire, very valuable viewpoints! We are
not surprised that the "Opportunities for free communication"
was assessed as "0 Poor, 1 Satisfactory, 12 Good,
12 Excellent", but we continuously work
with the program and exhibition to get even more satisfaction.
The Annual meeting in Helsingør agreed on the
changes of our bylaws, see the new formulation
of the bylaws on our web. The Annual meeting also decided to have one
additional Board Member and accepted the results from
the member voting. Thus we can welcome as new
Board members from beginning of year 2001 Maja Amskov
Gravad from Delta, Denmark and Dag Ausen from Sintef, Norway. You will
soon be able to read about them on our web page. It
is also my pleasure to thank Henrik Hvims for all the years he has served on
the Board!
The Board also decided to keep the member fee as
before at SEK 500. The other currencies are
adjusted accordingly. An invoice is included in this letter.
Our secretary Katarina Boustedt has asked to be
released from secretary duties from the
beginning of next year and instead concentrate on the webmaster tasks.
Snorre Prytz is appointed secretary from the
beginning of year 2001.
Local Workshops
The Board suggests that local IMAPS Nordic
workshops be arranged on specific topics. If
you have ideas, we are more than happy to assist in any possible way. CII,
Ceramic Interconnect Initiative is one forum offering
help in education and meeting programs, see http://www.imaps.org/
or ask our local representative, Terho
Kutilainen, terho.kutilainen@aspocomp.fi
Jubilee
IMAPS Nordic will celebrate its 30 anniversary next
year! A publication with our history is being
drawn up, with the important help of Hans Danielsson, who has been
involved in ISHM/IMAPS Nordic all 30 years! The
next conference will be devoted to the celebration of this jubilee although
the technical program will be most modern and
forward looking. The dates are 23
– 26 September 2001 and the place is
well-known Olavsgaard, just outside Oslo.
IMAPS Europe
The next IMAPS Europe Conference will take place 30
May - 1 June in Strasbourg.
The technical program is being developed and the grandiose conference
centre has been inspected. Strasbourg is a nice small
town in France but within walking distance from
Germany! These European conferences (and our
Nordic conferences) are the main means to learn
the latest in microelectronics packaging and interconnect and to get
associated with the rest of the European
electronics industry and R&D. Let me finally remind you
of our web address www.imapsnordic.org and
the easy way of sending emails to our officers
using title@imapsnordic.org where
title can be president, vice president,
secretary, treasurer, webmaster, conference or exhib.
For your convenience there is also a list of other,
related conferences on our web.
Let me wish all members already now a Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Paul Collander
IMAPS Nordic President
