Dear IMAPS Nordic Members,
After some hard work the IMAPS Nordic Board can now proudly present
the programme of our top event this year, the Annual Conference and
Exhibition! See attached preliminary programme. I hope you are aware
that the conference will be held in Helsinki University of Technology
Campus area in Espoo, Finland. Events are held in the Radisson SAS Espoo
hotel, in Dipoli Congress Center and in HUT premises, all in short
walking distance from each other. On our website there is a number of useful
links to the Espoo neighbourhood. The area can be reached from
Helsinki airport faster than Helsinki itself.
One of the brand new areas we will address at this conference is
Ambient Intelligence or Ubiquitous Computing, the possibility of having
distributed intelligence in home automation etc. in order to make our
busy daily life easier. We will hear about what is possible and how it
can be implemented. A big challenge for Packaging and Interconnection!
Tutorials
We have a strong Tutorial offering. Utilize Sunday and / or Wednesday
afternoon for learning new topics or deepening your knowledge in
specific areas like Virtual prototyping, Thin chip handling and use in
flexible and stacked configurations, RF design and realisation in LTCC,
Ambient Intelligence and embedding components and lastly, the local
speciality in HUT, Pb-free soldering and reliability. For all topics we
have got world experts to teach us in 3-4 hour tutorials.
A question here: If you would like to participate in one of the
Sunday tutorials (See Programme) but the Sunday for some reason is not
practical for you please send an email.
If we get enough requests we can start to work with our teachers to find
out if one of the Sunday tutorials can either be moved to Wednesday
afternoon or repeated on Wednesday.
R&D workshop
Wednesday late morning we will have a high level R&D workshop
where Microelectronics research managers from Northern Europe discuss in
a panel how to bring research into industrial utilization and how
networking can improve research and utilization of results.
As last year we have put the conference
registration and hotel room reservation system on the Internet.
To make our planning easier we offer a reduced conference fee if you
register before the end of August. Save money and help us in our
