Dear IMAPS Nordic Member,
Hope the new millennium has started in a satisfying manner for you, and that this year will be nice and prosperous for you, your neighbourhood and family! MembershipYour membership fee bill and paying instructions are included. Check with your financial department that the information on whose member-fee is paid follow all the way to the receiver. The annual meeting decided not to change the level of the member fee (SEK 500) but to adjust the fee in different Nordic currencies. The membership fees for 2000 are thus FIM 350, SEK 500, NOK 470, and DKK 430. Remember always to inform Terho Kutilainen at treasurer@imapsnordic.org about any changes in your affiliation, address, email address, etc… JournalsDuring 2000 all IMAPS Nordic’s paying members will receive two different journals: MI, the European journal Microelectronics International, which is no longer the official IMAPS journal, but provides a lot of related articles. What will happen with this journal after this year is an open question. AM, Advancing Microelectronics, IMAPS North America’s magazine for members and affiliate members. This journal is expanding, now covering all of Europe, with our Søren Nørlyng appointed as European Editor for the journal. AM will be mailed to each IMAPS Nordic member’s address through the arrangement that all paying IMAPS Nordic members are affiliated members of North America. The fee, 10 USD per year, is included in the Nordic membership fee. Since there has been some difficulties with the member list we ask you to check that you receive AM and if not, check with our treasurer (treasurer@imapsnordic.org) that you payment has been registered. If you are full member of IMAPS North America also you may reconsider this membership since else you get two copies of AM. The other member benefit, the journal Microcircuits & Electronic Packaging, can be ordered separately. ElectionThis year we have the election of Board for IMAPS Nordic for the years 2001 and 2002. The election committee, Søren Nørlyng (noerlyng@micronsult.dk) and Anders Engdahl (anders.engdahl@swe.dupont.com) are now collecting candidates for the election. Make sure your candidate agrees to serve on the board before you send in the name and contact information. Late in spring the list of candidates will be sent to all members for voting. 37th IMAPS Nordic annual conference 2000The main IMAPS Nordic event will be the Annual Conference. Once more the venue has been decided to be in Helsingør, about 45 minutes from Copenhagen and with train connection from Copenhagen airport. The dates have been chosen in accordance with the US conference in Boston. The dates are September 10-13. Hotel Marienlyst, Helsingør, is located next to a sandy beach, has an Aquapark under palm trees with a large pool with waves, an international casino and is located five minutes from Kronborg castle, built in 1577. The Call for Papers is enclosed in this letter. It can also be found on the web at http://www.imapsnordic.org. Now is the time for you to consider showing your company’s results in a presentation or asking your supplier, customer, or competitor to join in with an interesting paper. Well-motivated papers with a general interest have a very good chance of being accepted by the Board. The abstract must be non-commercial and submitted in electronic form to the IMAPS Nordic Conference, by email to conference@imapsnordic.org, no later than 20 April. Speakers will be notified of paper acceptance by email 20 May. The deadline for the final paper is 20 July. Now is also the time to consider exhibiting during the conference days. A letter to exhibitors will soon be prepared. For information before then, please contact us by email to exhib@imapsnordic.org. We are again planning on having a student session/competition in this conference, see separate invitation. InternationalOn our web we have now the largest list of conferences world wide on components, packaging, interconnect and microelectronics. Check it and report additions or changes to our webmaster, Katarina Boustedt. With your IMAPS Nordic membership you receive the benefit of the IMAPS member reduced conference fee when applicable. ELC newsIn 2000 the main European event is the Microelectronics Symposium to be held on 18 - 20June in Prague. More information is available on the symposium homepage at http://k313.feld.cvut.cz/micro, to which there is a link at the IMAPS Nordic homepage. Local Nordic eventsThe Board is interested in helping to arrange
local/national workshops, seminars or courses in microelectronics and
packaging. We can arrange for approved speakers, discuss the content and
we can mail invitations. The main requirement is that meetings are
arranged locally and that enough interest can be guaranteed. The courses
may be part of a university curriculum or similar. Please contact Paul
Collander, president@imapsnordic.org
on this matter. |
IMAPS Nordic WebHopefully you know by now that the utmost source for information about our Society is the Web, see http://www.imapsnordic.org for all programmes, board decisions, minutes and activity development. There you will also find the member letters and the call for papers for the Helsingør conference. The paper mail is still considered needed, both as a reminder of the society and as a means to keep the latest information handy. Also remember the easy email addresses to the board officers: president@imapsnordic.org vicepresident@imapsnordic.org treasurer@imapsnordic.org secretary@imapsnordic.org conference@imapsnordic.org exhib@imapsnordic.org
